The drink is more well-known than the traditional Toddy, and is distributed in packages of 200 ml. On March 15, 1933, Pedro Erasmo Santiago was licensed by the provisory government of Getúlio Vargas to commercialize the product in Brazil. He created innovative advertising campaigns, including skywriting the product name over the skies of Rio de Janeiro. The first Pepsi-Cola was created by Caleb D. Bradham (1866–1934), a pharmacist in New Bern, North Carolina. Hoping to duplicate the recent success of Coca-Cola, Bradham named his sweet cola-flavored carbonated beverage Pepsi-Cola in 1898.
Water usage (India, U.S., U.K.)
The theory has been advanced that New Coke, as the reformulated drink came to be known, was invented specifically in response to the Pepsi Challenge. However, a consumer backlash led to Coca-Cola quickly reintroducing the original formula as “Coca-Cola Classic”. They came up with advertising portraying black Americans in a positive light, such as one with a smiling mother holding a six pack of Pepsi while her son (a young Ron Brown, who grew up to be Secretary of Commerce)68 reaches up for one. Another ad campaign, titled “Leaders in Their Fields”, profiled twenty prominent African Americans such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Ralph Bunche and photographer Gordon Parks. In November 2014, the firm’s president Zein Abdalla announced he would be stepping down from his position at the firm by the end of 2014.94 In 2017, Ramon Laguarta became the president and became its CEO in 2018.
PepsiCo have since launched new drinks under the Pepsi brand, such as Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max, that make up the brand portfolio today on top of the original Pepsi cola. Mack realized that Black people were an untapped niche market and that Pepsi stood to gain market share by targeting its advertising directly towards them.66 To this end, he hired Hennan Smith, an advertising executive “from the Negro newspaper field”67 to lead an all-black sales team, which had to be cut due to the onset of World War II. On 28 March 2023, PepsiCo unveiled a new Pepsi Globe, which launched in the US on 23 August of that year. The new design is strongly referential to the 1973 Globe and restores the centred wordmark.
Latin America
As of January 2021, the company possesses 23 brands that have over 1 billion $ each in sales annually.3 PepsiCo has operations all around the world and its products were distributed across more than 200 countries and territories, resulting in annual net revenues of over US$70 billion. PepsiCo is the second-largest food and beverage business in the world based on net revenue, profit, and market capitalization, behind Nestlé. In 2023, the company’s seat in the Forbes Global 2000 was 82.4 PepsiCo’s flagship product, Pepsi Cola, has been engaged in a rivalry for generations with Coca-Cola; it is commonly referred to as the cola wars.
PepsiCo has advertised its efforts to be more environmentally and socially friendly, touting what it calls “performance with a purpose”—investments in racial equality, commitments to better water and land use, and a target of 100% renewable energy by 2030. From the 1930s through the late 1950s, “Pepsi-Cola Hits The Spot” was the most commonly used slogan in the days of old-time radio, classic motion pictures and early days of television.49 Its jingle (conceived in the days when Pepsi cost only five cents) was used in many different forms with different lyrics. With the rise of radio, Pepsi-Cola utilized the services of a young, up-and-coming actress named Polly Bergen to promote products, oftentimes, lending her singing talents to the classic “…Hits The Spot” jingle. Former top executives at PepsiCo include Steven Reinemund, Roger Enrico, D. Wayne Calloway, John Sculley, Michael H. Jordan, Donald M. As result of this venture into juice production, in the 1950s Pedro Erasmo Santiago established the largest orange juice processing and juice concentrate facility in the world, Suconasa, today Cutrale, established in Brazil. The line “Rock & Roller Cola Wars” refers to Pepsi and Coke’s usage of various musicians in advertising campaigns.

Although Coca-Cola outsells Pepsi Cola in the United States, PepsiCo within the North American market is the largest food and beverage company by net revenue. The company’s beverage distribution and bottling is conducted by PepsiCo as well as by licensed bottlers in certain regions. PepsiCo, Inc., based in Purchase, New York, is one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies. PepsiCo is known for its Frito-Lay snack food brands, soft drinks under its Gatorade, Mountain Dew, and namesake Pepsi brands, and cereal products under its Quaker Oats subsidiary.

In 1950 Alfred N. Steele (1901–59), a former vice president of the Coca-Cola Company and the husband of actress Joan Crawford, became chief executive officer. His emphasis on giant advertising campaigns and sales promotions increased Pepsi-Cola’s net earnings 11-fold during the 1950s and made it the chief competitor of Coca-Cola. (After Steele’s death, his wife, actress Joan Crawford, became an active director of the company.) In 1965 Pepsi-Cola merged with Frito-Lay, Inc., the maker of snack foods such as Fritos, Doritos, Lay’s potato chips, and Rold Gold pretzels. The newly enlarged company diversified further with the purchase of three restaurant chains—Pizza Hut, Inc. (1977), Taco Bell Inc. (1978), and Kentucky Fried Chicken Corp. (1986; now called KFC)—and Seven-Up International (1986), but in 1997 the restaurant chains were spun off into a new, separate company called Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc.
